If you have been noticing a completely black conversation view in Mail.app since upgrading to macOS High Sierra, like I did, then take advice from MacRumours forum user “thewhofan” and use the calibration wizard in Display Preferences.

This appears to be an issue for machines that use Intel’s integrated HD Graphics 3000 GPU.
