I know that I'm no expert when it comes to the written word. More often than not I probably embarrass not only myself, but all of those giants of literary lore that I so often reference without extending any form of proper appreciation. In a move to try and appease the God's and Goddess's of writing I always have a dictionary and thesaurus ready and waiting at all times. I am beginning to think this is merely good practice since it's obvious that I have no idea what all of those big words mean.

As an aside, I haven't tried any other dictionary/thesaurus applications other than the default Dictionary.app on my Macbook because I simply haven't had to. Call me spoiled.
